We are a local charity-based organisation that provides care, support, and housing to individuals with learning disabilities across Surrey.

The role will principally hold responsibility for undertaking our planned program of Fire Door replacement, repair and assessment of fire doors, you will also carry out the installation of kitchens including the fitting of base and wall units, worktops, and associated joinery. Duties include interpreting technical drawings, taking accurate measurements, making necessary on-site adjustments, and ensuring all work meets current building standards..

You will bring a positive, solution focussed attitude and work well in a team to deliver a customer focused facilities support service that is in line with company values and behaviours as you would expect of an organisation who provide care, support, and housing to individuals with learning disabilities across Surrey.

Summary of Main Duties and Responsibilities



Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed and implemented during each work task. Install and replace fire doors to comply with UK fire safety regulations. Fit kitchen units, worktops, and associated joinery components. Carry out on-site measurements and adjustments to ensure precise installations. Ensure all works meet relevant safety and building standards. Carry out maintenance and repair of existing doors, kitchens, and other joinery works as required. Liaise with Registered/Senior Managers, colleagues, and other trades to ensure smooth job progress. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Support the Maintenance Supervisor in general repairs to our buildings. Provide, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor details of alterations and new systems, services and equipment installed, and of maintenance undertaken at all sites. Undertake a wide remit of grounds maintenance/DIY work as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor/Estates Manager, across the organisation's facilities, including but not limited to lawn mowing, hedge cutting, weeding, general grounds clearance, gutter cleaning and general landscaping tasks. Ability to communicate with people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism. Work within a safe system of work.

Person Specification



NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent qualification (Essential) NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Passive Fire Protection (Desirable) Ability to carry out general maintenance tasks/DIY experience. (Essential) Experience with using petrol two-stroke grass/hedge cutting equipment (Essential) Understanding of Health and Safety procedures (Essential) Up-to-date knowledge of UK fire door installation regulations (Essential) Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship (Essential) Ability to work independently (Essential)
