Carpenter / Joiner - Join NY Highways' new Property Services division!

Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Salary:

From 34,796 (+ Market Supplement of 1,391-1,499) per year + Overtime Opportunities

This role is within NYH Property, which operates independently from the highways maintenance side of NY Highways. While NYH Property is part of the wider NY Highways group, this position focuses solely on property maintenance and construction across a range of private, public and commercial buildings not highways or road infrastructure.

You'll work on a mix of capital projects and responsive maintenance across a wide range of commercial properties. From first fix to final finishes, your craftsmanship will help maintain and improve essential infrastructure across the county.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll be part of a supportive team, delivering high-quality joinery services while ensuring safety and compliance at every step and helping craft the future of our service while enjoying the stability and support of a forward-thinking organisation.

What You'll Be Doing



Carrying out 1st and 2nd fix joinery across commercial sites Supporting emergency repairs, planned maintenance, and capital projects Operating trade-specific tools and constructing access platforms Collaborating with supervisors, contractors, and internal teams Assisting with planning, risk assessments, and digital reporting Mentoring apprentices and contributing to team development

What We're Looking For



NVQ Level 3 in Joinery (or equivalent time-served experience) CSCS Gold Card Full UK Driving Licence Experience in both 1st and 2nd fix joinery Understanding of Health & Safety practices Experience across multiple trades in property maintenance Flexibility to travel and participate in on-call rota Enhanced DBS check (Children's Barred List)

Desirable (or willingness to train):



PASMA certification Manual Handling, Safe Dig, Abrasive Wheels, Banksman training Nail Gun Awareness, Face Fit, Asbestos Awareness Working at Height certification Emergency First Aid training
