Job Overview


We are seeking an experienced and skilled Carpenter Supervisor to lead our team of carpenters in various construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in carpentry, with expertise in construction, joinery, and masonry. This role requires a hands-on approach to supervising work on-site while ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety, while actively participating in skilled carpentry work themselves, including measuring, cutting, and installing various wood components like framing, cabinetry, and trim.

Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the role is a 50/50 split between 1st. & 2nd. Fix Carpentry and Factory Supervision activities.

Responsibilities



Project Management:



Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans to understand project scope. Manage project timelines and deadlines, identifying potential delays and adjusting schedules accordingly. Monitor project budget and ensure cost-effective execution.

Team Leadership:

Assign tasks to team members based on their skills and experience. Train and mentor carpentry apprentices Provide clear instructions and guidance to the team Address performance issues and resolve conflicts within the team

Carpentry Work:

Perform skilled carpentry tasks including framing, rough carpentry, finish carpentry (installing doors, trim, cabinetry) Ensure accuracy in measurements and cuts Inspect work quality and ensure compliance with building codes

Quality Control:

Conduct regular quality checks throughout the construction process Identify and rectify any quality issues promptly Maintain high standards of craftsmanship

Safety Compliance:

Enforce safety protocols on the job site Conduct regular safety meetings/'Toll box talks' with the team as necessary

Qualifications



Proven experience as a carpenter with a strong portfolio of completed projects. Proficiency in joinery, roofing techniques, masonry work, and the use of both hand tools and power tools. Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately. Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices in construction. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team effectively. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Good communication skills to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and team members effectively.
