Gaining an understanding of safe working practices, and working within these areas:



Understanding and Interpreting information



Using a range of manual and electrical tools



Measuring, marking out, cutting, finishing, positioning, and securing wood



First fix carpenters build framing and first fix work such as floor and roofing structures & walls, and bulkheads



Second fix carpenters work on the final product such as doors, architraves, skirting boards, shelves, stair handrails and balustrades



Creating window frames and installing floor joists coverings



Boxing in pipework



Safely storing materials, without causing damage



On completion of this apprenticeship, you can progress into the Level 3 Advanced qualification or work as a qualified Junior Carpenter where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior carpentry position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or carpentry business owner



Entry requirements



Maths and English GCSE grade 4 or equivalent is preferable but not essential.



Training to be provided



One day a week at Richmond upon Thames College
