Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Cashier to join our professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the firm's accounting functions. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in legal finance and strong proficiency in accounting software. The position is paid and suitable for candidates who are committed to delivering precise and efficient financial administration within a legal environment.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the senior partner, the role will involve overseeing office and client account administration.

Duties



Manage and process all incoming and outgoing payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness and oversee credit control legal aid billing/ enquiries Maintain and reconcile client accounts using accounting software such as Sage, or Xero Prepare and issue invoices, receipts, and payment reminders in accordance with firm policies Prepare, check and monitor all monthly payroll processes bank, petty cash, credit cards and expenses reconciliations sales and purchase ledgers bank reconciliations for client account on a daily basis Processing payments including Chaps and BACS Monthly compliance reporting to COFA/COLP and partners Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure cash flow is optimised Record financial transactions accurately within the firm's accounting systems Assist with month-end reconciliation processes and prepare relevant reports for management Support compliance with legal financial regulations and internal controls Monitoring residual client balances Production of time and billing reports Keep detailed records of all transactions for audit purposes

Skills



Proven experience as a Cashier or in a similar finance role within a legal or professional services environment At least 1-2 years experience Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is essential Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and general ledger management Conversant of Solicitors' Accounts rules and VAT regulations Preferably be part qualified (CIMA/ACCA) Awareness of COFA duties and responsibilities Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail Ability to work independently whilst maintaining accuracy under pressure Good communication skills, both written and verbal Experience with case management systems like Clio
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.00-14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
