What you'll do:



Prepare and cook dishes using standard recipes according to planned menus; exercise and supervise portion control and assist in food service to patients, staff, and visitors. Maintain high standards of cooking, cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control in food preparation and service; report pest sightings and equipment faults promptly. Communicate stock requirements and maintain temperature and quality records; ensure provisions are used in strict rotation and are in date. Adhere to and practice Sodexo's policies on Fire, Health & Safety, First Aid, Security, COSHH, and confidentiality; attend mandatory and ongoing training. Assist in staff training, supervision, disciplinary control, and office administration; provide leadership and cover responsibilities in absence of the Team Leader/Supervisor. Ensure correct use and care of equipment, secure appliances and premises at shift end, prioritize daily duties, and support efficient, hygienic cleaning services. Maintain professional communication with colleagues, patients, visitors, and stakeholders using various methods; provide good customer service and support clinical teams for optimal client care. Work independently maintaining high-quality standards, contribute to a culture of quality, safety, and security, and actively participate in service improvement and feedback systems such as Better Hospital Foods.

What you bring:



Proven cook experience, preferably in healthcare, with good knowledge of NHS policies and procedures. Relevant catering qualifications (City & Guilds 7061/2 or NVQ Level 2) and Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 or 3. Skilled in using standardised recipes, portion control, stock keeping, and cleaning equipment. Reliable, punctual, flexible, able to work under pressure, and adaptable to changing service needs. Holds a full driving licence and willing to work across community health services as required.

Desirable:

Worked in a healthcare environment.

Good knowledge of NHS Policies and Procedures.

Level3 food Hygiene Certificate.
