The Corporate and Professional Services departments are the cornerstone of the University. They each provide essential and valuable support to both each other and the Academic departments, helping the University to function in the most efficient and productive way, ensuring that the students' experience is second to none.
The University of Buckingham, Faculty Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) is looking to recruit exam invigilators to support our assessment process.
Role Purpose
As a Casual Exams Invigilator, you will prepare assessment venues by ensuring all necessary materials are in place and the environment is conducive to assessment conditions. You will monitor exams by checking student identification, verifying attendance, and maintaining a quiet and controlled environment. Ensuring academic integrity is crucial, so you will monitor students to ensure adherence to regulations and respond promptly to any queries or incidents. You will also record and report any breaches of regulations to the relevant manager. Post-assessment duties include assisting in tidying the venue and handling confidential documents. Throughout your role, you will present as a respectful representative of the university to both internal and external stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for individuals with a willingness to learn and receive training. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to communicate clearly and concisely with students, staff, and external stakeholders. You will be confident to manage student movement around assessment events. The post holders will be good timekeepers and have great attention to detail. Effective teamwork is important, as you will collaborate with other invigilators and faculty staff. You should be able to make timely and considered decisions within established guidelines and use initiative to resolve standard problems while escalating significant issues. Invigilators recognise that exams are a stressful time for students and provide a calm and approachable presents. A commitment to promoting equality and diversity in all areas of work is also required.
This position offers flexible, ad hoc work, with exams held at various times and locations throughout the year. You will work within a professional and supportive team and earn a competitive hourly rate of pay.
You will report to the Assessment Delivery Lead and liaise with the FMHS Assessment Team.
