Casual Kitchen Assistant / Porter
to join our catering team, playing an essential role in maintaining the high standards of service and cleanliness across our Sunbeam Cafe and Clubhouse.
This is a hands-on role where you'll work alongside our talented chefs and catering team, ensuring our kitchens run smoothly and efficiently. You'll be at the heart of our food operations, supporting everything from food preparation and delivery management to maintaining impeccable hygiene standards and keeping our kitchen environments spotless.
Working at one of the UK's most iconic heritage sites, you'll contribute to creating memorable experiences for the 180,000 visitors who come to Brooklands each year. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a busy team, and wants to make a real difference behind the scenes.
Working pattern:
40 hours per week. Saturday and Sunday working essential. Some bank holiday working required, including New Year's Day (time off in lieu provided for bank holiday working).
What you'll be doing:
Cleaning and maintaining food preparation areas, equipment, crockery, and cutlery to the highest standards
Sanitising surfaces, walls, and floors to ensure exceptional hygiene
Receiving and unloading deliveries efficiently
Supporting chefs with light food preparation duties and general kitchen tasks
Maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules
Managing cleaning supplies and materials, ordering when needed
Keeping wastage to a minimum and supporting efficient kitchen operations
Contributing to hospitality and events operations as required
What we're looking for:
Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations including COSHH and HACCP
Ability to work under pressure with strong organisational skills
Good attention to detail and excellent communication skills
Self-motivated individual who can work confidently without supervision
Flexible, adaptable approach with ability to remain calm under pressure
Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn and take direction
Someone who takes ownership and accountability for their work
