Job Details






Community Use is the team that works hard to ensure most of the Halls, Community Centres and Schools in Fife are available for everyone to enjoy learning, leisure, life, and cultural events. Together with amazing partners we deliver a fantastic programme of inclusive pursuits including physical activity & sport, performing arts, arts & crafts, cookery, modern languages, and vocational training.




We also offer space for meetings, celebrations, and community events in both modern and historical buildings usually found in the heart of the Kingdom's city, towns, and villages. More information about Community Use can be found at:

Based at Glenwood HS Community Use you will be responsible for supporting the operation and delivery of Community Use programmes.




You will be expected to ensure the safety of all swimming pool users by responding to any rescue or first aid incidents, reporting them to your lead officer and ensuring that these are documented.




You will ensure that the area is set up in accordance with the booking requirements, as well as ensuring that these facilities are opened and secured at prescribed times. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the poolside and changing facilities are kept clean and tidy which should be followed in line with our health and safety procedures.




You will engage with customers and user groups in an appropriate manner ensuring that Council service provision is a positive experience for all facility users.




You will contribute to the achievement of the key priorities and milestones set out in the Community Use Plan, Service Improvement Plan, and other relevant strategy documents.




The normal working week will be 36 hours, which can include evenings and weekends depending on opening hours, meeting with staff and customers, and bookings of centres.




The Person






We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with good customer service skills and experience of working with members of the public.




They should understand First Aid and Health & Safety regulation and obtain manual handling skills.




Ideally the candidate will have some working knowledge of fire safety regulations, risk assessments, building compliance requirements and pool plant room operations.




In addition, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate good communication skills and be customer focused.




You should also be a well-organised individual and able to manage conflicting demands. The successful applicant must also:

Able to provide a regular and effective service


Be methodical and well-organised


Be able to respond to incidents quickly and efficiently


An NPLQ Qualification is required and experience in working in a leisure environment would be an advantage. Have IT skills to be able to use any required computer systems. You may be required to obtain a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership or Disclosure Check for this role.
