The Opportunity




As a Category Buyer you'll manage a 250m portfolio for Raw Materials, supporting the production of products such as Ready-Mix and Asphalt used across the UK construction industry. Based at our head office in Bardon Hill, Leicestershire, you'll be at the heart of our procurement activity, sourcing suppliers, agreeing rates, and making recommendations that balance cost, quality, and delivery.


This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with internal teams and external suppliers, occasionally visiting sites to strengthen relationships and gain insight into operational needs.

What you'll be doing:




Managing day-to-day purchasing activity to ensure materials are sourced accurately and efficiently.


Sourcing, onboarding, and negotiating with new and existing suppliers.


Collaborating with operational teams to balance cost, quality, and logistics, including internal supply options.


Supporting tendering, contracts, and supplier selection processes.


Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.


Identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the categories.


Occasionally travelling to sites to engage directly with teams and suppliers.


Contributing to wider business objectives through proactive procurement strategies.




Who you are




You're a commercially-minded procurement professional who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. You enjoy building relationships, making informed decisions, and driving continuous improvements.


You'll have experience in procurement, supply chain, production, or manufacturing environments.


You'll be confident negotiating with suppliers and making commercial recommendations.


You're comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.


You'll take pride in your analytical skills and are confident using data to support decision-making.


You'll be proactive, solutions-focused, and able to identify opportunities for improvement.


You're able to engage effectively with stakeholders across different levels and teams.


You're commercially aware, understanding the wider impact of your procurement decisions.
