The Council spend approximately 400 million annually on a wide range of goods, services and works, a few examples include adult and children's social care, waste, major infrastructure projects, maintenance, information, utilities, food and transport. The Council have committed to having an effective and stable Procurement Service and have built the team significantly.
The Strategic Procurement Team are responsible for the Tendering and Placement of Contracts across Doncaster Council, St Leger Homes of Doncaster Ltd and Doncaster Sheffield Airport, ensuring these are delivered within Council/SLHD policy and governance as well as adhering to Public Contracts Regulation Legislation.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Housing, Corporate And Professional Category as a Category Manager in the Strategic Procurement Team playing a key role in delivering commercial and customer focused procurement services across Doncaster Council, St Leger Homes of Doncaster Ltd and Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
Duties include:

  • Working as part of a team and using your own initiative.
  • Preparing Tender Documents and posting on the e-procurement portal, responding to clarification requests, collating submissions, chairing evaluation meetings, issuing relevant award notifications.
  • Collating spend reports, undertaking market research and analysis.
  • Managing associated procurement pipeline, ensuring contracts are in place and in date.
  • Liaison with relevant Service Areas within the Council and St Leger Homes.
  • Promote value for money.
  • Challenge and influence decisions ensuring the most commercial option is taken.
  • Obtaining legal advice and support as necessary from the in-house legal team.
  • Adhering to policies and procurement regulations
