Job Description

Venn Group are looking for a Category Manager to work for a Local Authority in the West Midlands.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Deliver procurement operations and activity (tenders, mini-competitions via frameworks).
  • Support delivery of savings and efficiencies and maintain the Council's Contract Register.
  • Advise on procurement strategies, frameworks, and contract documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with national procurement regulations, Council policies, and governance.
  • Support and monitor contract management, social value delivery, and transparency.
  • Provide training and guidance to colleagues, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Engage with SMEs and local suppliers to maximise community value
  • Proven experience in procurement operations within the public sector or large organisations. * Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, frameworks, and best practice. * Ability to advise on procurement strategy and deliver innovative procurement solutions. * Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
