Priory Hospital Burgess Hill is looking to recruit a Catering Assistant to join the team. This is a full time/37.5 hours role.



Set in attractive grounds in a rural setting, on the edge of the South Downs National Park, Priory Hospital Burgess Hill is a purpose-built building with good links to the local community. We offer acute mental health support for adult males, as well as psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) support for adult males.

What you'll be doing





You'll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn't involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.Assist with the preparation and serving of meals to patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring dietary requirements and hygiene standards are strictly followed. Support the catering team in maintaining cleanliness and organization of kitchen and dining areas, adhering to health and safety regulations. Help with the delivery and collection of food trays to patient wards, ensuring timely and accurate service. Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management, including receiving and storing deliveries properly. Provide friendly and efficient customer service, responding to patient and staff requests with professionalism and care.

What you'll bring to the role

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a catering or food service role, preferably within a healthcare or hospitality setting. A good understanding of food hygiene and safety practices is essential, with relevant certifications (e.g., Food Hygiene Level 2) being advantageous. Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment are important. The role requires a caring attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
