We are looking for a hard working, dedicated professional to join our kitchen staff as a catering assistant from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to join St. Peter's Primary School and become an integral member of the kitchen team.
The working hours are 10.15 to 1.45pm, Monday to Friday during the school term, including inset days (term dates are on the school website).
Overview of the Role:
This role will involve the successful candidate working as part of a busy team in the school kitchen to assist in the preparation and service of school meals under instruction from the Head Cook.
Main responsibilities:
To assist the Head Cook with day to day management and running the school kitchen.
General duties in kitchen and dining room.
Assist in the preparation and cooking of school meals.
Assist with the service and presentation of food and beverages.
Assist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment and catering areas.
Attend training courses and meetings as required.
Ensure hygiene and health and safety standards are met at all times.

Experience of catering (within a school is an advantage).
Knowledge of food intolerances, specific diet regimes and allergies is essential.
Ability to manage your own workload as well as being able to work collaboritively with your team.
The right temperment to work in a busy, pressured environment.
Flexibility, patience and a good sense of humour!
