This role is based at Kingsbridge Community College (KCC), a thriving secondary school based in Kingsbridge, South Devon for which we are seeking an enthusiastic Catering Assistant to work as part of a kitchen team serving approximately 1200 students aged 11-18 years. KCC is one of 15 schools which form the multi-academy trust Education South West (ESW).
Reporting to the Chef Manager, responsibilities will include the following, although this is not an exhaustive list and your responsibilities may vary from time to time, but will be commensurate with respect to overall area of responsibility.
What will you be doing
You will be preparing and cooking meals, working on both cold deli and hot food preparation and service, preparing food to a standard set menu.
Your customer centric approach will ensure that the customer experience is excellent, food service and presentation is of a high standard and that all students are catered for and treated with respect.
You will from time to time be serving at the food counter or operating the tills.
You will assist with receiving deliveries from suppliers, checking and stocking the dry and cold stores.
You will assist with record keeping and the maintenance of kitchen records.
Your experience and aptitude
Training and support will be provided but experience of working in a catering role is essential.
You will be an adaptable and flexible person, able to adjust to the varying demands of the day, covering different positions in the kitchen as required.
Your humour and enthusiasm will engender a successful, tight-knit kitchen team, catering for approximately 1200 children.
An advantage, but not essential, is that you have a number of years of experience working within a commercial environment.
Food hygiene certification will be required; support can be provided to refresh/obtain this training.

CONTRACT DETAILS
Hourly rate 12.65.
(NJC Contract A2)
32.5hours per week, 38 weeks per year coinciding with the term time.
Hours of work 7.30am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday. (Including 30 minute break)
Eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) pension scheme for which we will contribute 22.9% on top of your salary.
