We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our on site restaurants and external buffet service, providing exceptional guest services, and assisting with food preparation. This position is perfect for individuals with a passion for hospitality.
This role is part time (16-20 hours), Monday to Friday, based predominantly as NP19 4SS with cover at our other sites in Newport and Cwmbran. Occasional evening and weekend work is available, along with overtime.
The role is temporary until September/October 2025 with the view to make it permanent after the summer.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and presentation of food items for catering events, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
Working alongside colleague's at one of our three sites.
Holiday & sick cover over three sites (2 sites in Newport, 1 in Cwmbran)
Set up and dismantle catering equipment and displays before and after events.
Support the catering team in serving food and beverages efficiently and courteously.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, including kitchens and dining spaces.
Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless event execution, including communication with kitchen staff and event coordinators.
Assist with inventory management, including tracking supplies and reporting shortages as needed.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a catering, restaurant, or hospitality environment is preferred.
Knowledge of food safety practices is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on guest services and teamwork.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Flexibility to work varied hours, including occasional evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
Driving Licence essential.
Access to a car preferrable
