Are you passionate about food and customer service? We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic

Catering Assistant

to join our catering team. You'll help maintain the highest standards of food preparation, cleanliness, and customer care while working as part of a friendly, professional team.

What You'll Be Doing:

Assist the Chef and Chef Manager with food preparation and daily kitchen operations. Ensure counters and front-of-house areas are clean, well-presented, and fully stocked. Present food attractively with a strong sense of style and attention to detail. Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils (using a dishwasher or by hand). Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen in line with HACCP and food safety regulations. Store crockery, cutlery, and glassware safely and efficiently, minimizing breakages. Support general cleaning duties in the kitchen, dining hall, and service areas. Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and courteously. Check that all kitchen equipment is in safe working order and report any issues. Keep storerooms organized and well-stocked. Accept and check food deliveries, ensuring proper storage and paperwork. Ensure the kitchen is fully prepared and clean at the end of each shift. Follow the school's Health & Safety and safeguarding policies at all times. Carry out other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager.

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (CIEH or equivalent) Experience in a similar kitchen or catering role Knowledge of food preparation and hygiene standards Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions A team player who's self-motivated and reliable Physically fit - able to lift, carry, and work on your feet for extended periods High standards of personal hygiene and presentation

Desirable:

NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation (or equivalent) Basic IT skills An understanding of the hospitality or education catering sector
