- Be prepared to get to know each resident on an individual basis in order to meet their nutritional needs.
- Satisfactory police check and check against the ISA list.
- Food hygiene certificate and willingness to undertake further training as deemed necessary.
- To prepare menus in advance after consultation with the residents.
- Be able to support the individual and key people to communicate the types of food and drink the resident prefers.
- Support the resident to choose food and drink that adhere to their care plan that take account of their dietary requirements and preferences and of any religious, cultural and personal belief.
- Be able to present food attractively and in ways that meet the individual's preferences about quantity, temperature, consistency and appearance.
- Ability to demonstrate respect for the individual and their background, beliefs, cultures, values and preferences.
- To contribute to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of the contents of the home's Safeguarding Policy and knowledgeable about what steps to take if you have any concerns about the abuse or neglect of any service user. That you are conversant with the home's recording and reporting mechanisms to inform the Owner/Manager or Nurse in Charge of any concerns.
Desirable

- Previous experience of working as a cook in a care setting
- Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved or working towards)
- Evidence of having undertaken relevant training (e.g. moving and handling, health and safety, etc.)

Ensure meals are of a high quality and appetizingly presented, and that food safety guidelines are followed at all times.
1. Liaise with Nursing Staff to ensure that residents' dietary needs are being met at all times. Meet with each resident to discuss dietary needs, likes/dislikes etc.
2. Order products and food items, following authorisation from the Home Manager.
3. Ensure food and drink is within easy reach of the resident and monitor to make sure residents have access to water or other appropriate fluids between meals.
4. Ensure that the dining tables are laid correctly for meals, that residents have adapted cutlery/crockery as needed and the dining room is clean at all times.
5. Ensure that all appropriate records are in place in accordance with Environmental Health, and the Care Quality Commission e.g. food handling, cleanliness, health, safety, risk assessments and that all procedures required within the meal preparation areas operate to the highest possible standards.
6. Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
7. Adhere to all Policies and Procedures of the Home.
8. Attend all relevant mandatory training provided by the Home.
9. Be helpful, kind and polite to residents and visitors at all times.
10. Participate in staff/relative meetings as required
Health and Safety
Ensure that all areas of the kitchen including storage areas are kept meticulously clean and tidy.
2. Ensure that food is stored and cooked in accordance with Environmental Health Regulations
3. Check the quality of food items delivered to the kitchen i.e. meat, fruit vegetables and undertake stock rotation of provisions in fridges, freezers and store rooms.
4. Understand and ensure the implementation of Treetops Health and Safety Policy and emergency and fire procedures.
