Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Catering Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the smooth operation of catering services at our smashed burger and loaded fries takeaway site in Sacriston, County Durham. The successful candidate will play a vital part in delivering high-quality food and excellent customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all guests. Previous experience in hospitality, catering, or food service is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate. Main Purpose of the Job:

To prepare, cook and serve food to customers and help out in the kitchen as instructed. With responsibility for hygiene and cleanliness within food preparation areas.

Head Cook

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare, cook and serve food to customers. Meet and greet customers, taking their orders and preparing beverages. Prepare food for takeaway and delivery. Responsible for the kitchen's hygiene and cleanliness. Cleanse kitchen including washing pots, cutlery, appliances, surfaces and floors to the required standard. Organise the storage room. Assist with deliveries from suppliers. Collect and dispose of waste appropriately. Operate any machinery in line with all instruction and guidelines. Maintain documentation in accordance with food standards regulations.

Requirements

Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is preferred but not essential Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is desirable Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure Friendly, approachable manner with excellent communication skills Ability to work flexibly, including during weekends or evenings if required A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills Experience as a barista or in restaurant service is advantageous but not mandatory
