the role
As a Catering Assistant, you will work closely with the hospitality and catering team to support the smooth operation of our kitchen and service areas. Your role is essential in helping to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment for both students and staff. Reporting to the Kitchen and Stores Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring that food items, equipment, and supplies are properly stored, organized, and prepared for use. You will also help to uphold hygiene standards and assist with post-lesson cleanup, contributing to a professional and welcoming environment.
Main Responsibilities:
Cleaning in kitchens, storerooms, pan rooms and stores, the following: worktops, drawers, cupboards, sinks and all catering equipment;
Assisting in the preparation and service of food when required
Cleaning and replacing in appropriate storage areas - equipment, utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware
Operating pot washing equipment
Working in the Silver Plate kitchen when required
Notifying the Kitchen and stores team leader of any defective equipment
Completing weekly cleaning log sheets;
Assisting in the preparation and service of food when required
Undertaking all appropriate training and staff development activity in accordance with a planned programme of development for the post
