Catering Assistant

which will be a kitchen based role to support our kitchen team as we expand our offering of light lunches.

Shepherds Baa is an independent, family-run outdoor cafe located beside the beautiful Lynford Arboretum and Lakes. Since opening in 2021, we've built a reputation for great coffee, friendly service, and delicious homemade cakes and snacks. We're now expanding our menu and looking for the right person to help develop and deliver a range of light lunches such as paninis, rolls, and seasonal specials

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve light lunches to a consistent and high standard Support the day-to-day kitchen operations and food preparation Follow all food hygiene and health & safety standards Keep kitchen and work areas clean, organised, and well-stocked Help with stock control, deliveries, and daily food checks Work collaboratively with the cafe team to ensure smooth service Bring ideas and initiative to support the continued growth of our food offering

Requirements

At least 1 year's experience in a similar food prep or kitchen assistant role Minimum Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (essential) Must be available to work at least one weekend shift Willingness to contribute to menu development and process improvements A proactive and positive attitude Excellent timekeeping and reliability Ability to multitask and work efficiently during busy periods Works well in a team and under pressure

Work schedule

This role can either be a part-time or full-time role (minimum 20 hours per week), to include weekday shifts and at least one weekend shift.

Rates of pay

Exceeds National Minimum Wage plus enhanced weekend pay
