We have two exciting opportunities for hardworking Catering Assistants to join our dedicated catering team at Sandwell College.
Please note: Initial interviews are being held on Wednesday 23rd July 2025.
Key Responsibilities
As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in the daily operation of the college's catering services. Your duties will include preparing food and refreshments, serving meals, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and ensuring all food hygiene and health and safety regulations are followed.
Please note this is a term time only role, working 37 weeks per annum.
You will support the Chef Manager and wider team by helping to set up catering areas, assist with cleaning and maintenance of equipment, and provide excellent customer service to staff, students and visitors.
You may also be required to support college hospitality functions and operate cash tills in line with college procedures.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
Knowledge of current food hygiene and health and safety requirements
Experience working in a catering or hospitality environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to remain calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines
A strong team ethic and commitment to Equal Opportunities
A willingness to undertake relevant training and development
A catering qualification and experience working in an educational setting would be advantageous but are not essential.
