We are currently looking to appoint a Catering Assistant/ Cook to join the catering team at Essendene Lodge School. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for food to join our team.

The role is 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9.00 -2pm or 9.30 to 2.30pm. This is a term time only role.

Essendene Lodge School is an independent Preparatory School and Nursery in the heart of Caterham, Surrey. We cater for boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 11. We have full time onsite nursery for 2-4 year old pupils managed by experienced and qualified staff. The school prides itself on the family friendly ethos and entrance exam success rate at the end of Year 6. Small class sizes ensure that individual attention is given to pupils in every lesson and children experience a varied curriculum such as French, Music, Sports, Drama, computing and experience activities that full of fun and engagement such as Musical Theatre, Drama, debating and many more.

As our Catering Assistant/ Cook you will work with the school chef and the kitchen team during the lunch period. You will undertake tasks alongside the school Cook and assist with the preparation of meals as well as serving and clearing after meal time. You will also perform domestic duties which ensure the safe production of food relevant to current food and health safety legislation.

We are looking for a Catering Assistant/ Cook who has the following qualifications & experiences:

Catering experience within any food establishment Good understanding of commercial catering operation A good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP Enthusiasm, vision, drive, adaptability, and resilience High personal standards, self-motivated and proactive Suitability to work with children Flexible and maintain a sound sense of humour Commitment to continued personal and professional development
