Role Overview



Spend your summer working on Scotland's stunning west coast with Caledonian MacBrayne. Join our on-board retail and catering team, working as part of the crew who deliver excellent customer service - and the welcome and hospitality that we are renowned for, with the chance to explore the west coast - from island sunsets to unforgettable teamwork, this isn't just a job - it's an experience! You will support the on-board Retail Operations Head of Department in providing a comprehensive On-Board retail and catering service that enables the Company to achieve its customer and business objectives.

You will rotate between our on-board restaurants, cafes, coffee cabins, shops, bars, galleys and mess rooms.

Primary Accountabilities:



Attend to customer needs and be responsive to their requests. Assist in the provision of the on-board retail and catering service to a standard that enables the Company to achieve its customer and business objectives. Adhere to the on-board Retail Operations procedures, maintain stocking policies and merchandise layout plans. Attend on-board departmental meetings with the head of the department to discuss current performance and promote local produce. Identify opportunities for improvement in customer service, retail sales and crew meal provision and discuss with the on-board Head of Department. Adhere to the Company's cash control, stock control and fiscal security procedures. Understand and adhere to Food Hygiene practices and procedures. Adhere to local safe systems of work, safety training and compliance with current legislation. Carry out laundry and cleaning tasks as required utilizing the appropriate

chemicals and equipment.

Report any issues either physical or operational that may be detrimental to

achieving the company's customer and business objectives.

Be prepared to work in any service area on board the vessel. Following suitable training, to be prepared to accept the duties and responsibilities of senior staff if nominated. Undertake emergency response duties as required. Any other duties as reasonably required by HOD or Master

Qualifications, skills and experience



Essential



Good written, verbal and communication skills Customer service experience REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1) ENG1 Medical Certificate

Desirable



STCW certification as per Major Vessel Certification Requirements -

assistance will be available to complete your STCW's prior to commencing employment
Experience of kitchen/galley food preparation and cooking * Cooks Certificate Part 1 (or comparable)
