Job Title: Catering Manager for the Madhouse Community Cafe Job Summary: The Catering Manager is responsible for planning, organising, and overseeing all catering operations of the Madhouse Community Cafe. This includes managing staff, coordinating with clients, ensuring high food quality standards, and delivering exceptional service. The Catering Manager plays a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction and achieving business profitability for our charity as a social enterprise. Key Responsibilities: Client Coordination: Meet with clients to understand event requirements and preferences including school holidays bootcamps up to 200 children a day.
Be a strong chef in terms of leading service and providing high quality healthy foods catering for all dietary requirements. Design customised catering menus based on client needs and budget including school meals. Maintain ongoing communication to ensure client satisfaction. Event Planning & Execution: Plan and execute catering events, from small meetings to large functions and day to day cafe operations. Oversee the setup, service, and breakdown of catering events. Ensure events are executed on time and within budget. Team Management: Support and supervise catering staff Develop work schedules and delegate responsibilities. Monitor performance and provide feedback. Operations & Logistics: Manage inventory, ordering of supplies, and vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Coordinate transportation and delivery of food and equipment. Budgeting & Reporting: Monitor catering budgets and control costs. Prepare sales reports and track event profitability. Work with finance or upper management on forecasting and revenue strategies. Qualifications: Proven experience in catering management as chef or hospitality (3+ years preferred). Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple events. Knowledge of food safety standards and hospitality best practices. Level 3 catering and food safety preferred. Work Conditions: 20 hours a week including some evenings, weekends, and full time in school holidays. Fast-paced environment with standing, lifting, and occasional travel to off-site events.
