Job Description

One of Derbyshire's leading tourist attractions is looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Catering Manager. This is the key role in helping the company to develop its already successful catering business at a unique venue.

The Catering Manager will manage all aspects of the catering facilities. They will lead the team of about 30 individuals across four different catering departments to deliver outstanding customer service, drive growth and efficiency, and ensure the highest standards of food quality and safety.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership and front of house hospitality skills along with a strong background in food production and presentation in a busy commercial kitchen. They will have proven Restaurant management experience and be proficient at menu planning and costings to ensure the catering outlets are achieving industry-leading margins.

The Catering Manager will report directly to the Head of Visitor Services.

Key Tasks:



To develop, manage and operate a high quality and cost-effective catering service to visitors across all catering departments. To lead the catering team during service applying a hands-on approach, this will include working with the front of house teams and back of house in the kitchen, when necessary. To ensure a high standard of food preparation, hygiene, storage and services to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. To monitor stock levels of food supplies and catering equipment, place orders where necessary to ensure smooth operations. To work with the Head chef to develop and implement menu design To deliver an outstanding "visitor experience" To be responsible for all aspects of Environmental Health and Food Hygiene. To minimise wastage. To recruit, and supervise the catering team, providing support, guidance and on the job training to ensure efficient operations. To ensure that all staff are trained on food preparation techniques, safety protocols and customer service best practice and ensure that they undertake continuing training and development following staff policies and procedures. To conduct regular evaluations of team performance and provide constructive feedback to support team development. To manage staff rotas and monitor hours on a weekly basis, To operate as Duty Manager of the day as required. To deliver First Aid.

The Individual



Will be highly motivated. Proven experience of operating and managing all aspects of a high quality, multi outlet visitor facing catering department. A minimum of two years' experience managing a restaurant. A minimum of two years' experience working in a commercial kitchen as a chef. Efficient in orchestrating a front of house service and leading a successful team to achieve customer satisfaction, and profitability.

The Role



Full time including weekends and bank holidays; day-time only.
