We are seeking a friendly, reliable, trustworthy and capable person to join the friendly team at Bickleigh Castle. Specifically, we need somebody who is willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends, on the Catering & Hospitality side. Hours will vary but will fall mainly between 8 and 28 per week, although there may be occasions when there are slightly more, and occasions when we are closed (just a few days in the year). The successful candidate will be replacing a an excellent person who is now moving on after two years.
Pay starts on the NMW which is currently 12.21 ph if you are aged 21+ . A little less if you are under that age. There are tips in addition, especially when there are special events.
There is a fair amount of moving around involved and there are stairs, so this will suit an active and mobile person.
There will be opportunities to help with our Weddings (which are fun) and other interesting events.
You will be working on your own from time to time, especially when there are breakfasts for small numbers, and indeed, breakfasts are one of the main parts of the job, so you need to be ok with early starts!
You will be given a proper induction on the use of equipment and h&s matters.
The dress code is generally black & white - fairly flexible. We have special uniform for weddings.
Responsibilities
Prepare and present a variety of dishes according to menu specifications and dietary requirements.
Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to throughout the preparation and serving processes. (You can take the online exam under training if you do not already have a hygiene certificate).
Provide excellent guest services by interacting positively with clients and attendees during events.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during events, including timely service and replenishment of food items.
Assist in menu planning and development based on client preferences and seasonal ingredients.
Qualifications
The main qualification is capability and a willingness to learn and advance latent skills. Paper qualifications are useful, of course, but what we are really after is somebody who will be a good and reliable team member.
Previous experience in hotel or guest services is an advantage but not essential.
Ability to work well, even under pressure, while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.
Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service excellence.
