Job Summary



We are looking for a hands-on Catering Supervisor and Cook who will oversee daily operations whilst bringing strong culinary skills to the kitchen. You are a skilled cook and experienced supervisor, with excellent customer service experience together with a proven record supporting and developing a strong team. You'll use your great interpersonal skills in this dual role that requires both leadership and cooking expertise to manage your team and produce wholesome food for the local community to enjoy.

You'll communicate clearly and pay strong attention to detail. You can plan and delegate your decision making effectively across the team, setting priorities and goals to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities and key accountabilities will include:



Overseeing the day-to-day cafe operations, ensuring smooth service and high customer satisfaction.

Managing staff and volunteer scheduling, training, and supervision.

Lead and cook with the kitchen team, preparing and cooking food to a high standard in a timely manner.

Design, develop, cost and deliver regular, expanded and seasonal menus as required for the cafe along with private hires, events and any other F&B requirements.

Monitor stock levels, place supplier orders, and control costs with a keen eye on minimising waste.

Respond quickly to variances in financial performance, implementing corrective action where necessary.

Lead on food safety in line with current legislation; supervise completion of due diligence requirements including cleaning schedules.

Ensure H & S requirements for the kitchen and cafe are fulfilled, in accordance with risk assessments and in line with current legislation

Foster a motivational and supportive working environment to ensure that all members of staff, volunteers and work experience placements perform to the best of their abilities.

The postholder will be expected to work within the opening hours of the operation, which includes weekends and occasional evening work.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Essential



Supervisory experience in a busy, kitchen environment, including training and develment

Skills in planning and leading daily food preparation

Experience of operational catering functions; quality, process, ordering, stock-control etc.

Experience in menu development.

Food safety & Hygiene qualification level 3 (intermediate).

IT skills including Excel and Word.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to support staff in a busy kitchen environment and adopt a positive approach to problem solving; making contingency plans as needed.

Ability to motivate others and to manage conflict effectively.

Desirable



Formal supervisory/catering qualification.

Formal training qualification to assist in delivery of staff training.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 32,000.00 per year
