A co-educational, independent day & Boarding school in Wokingham, Berkshire. The school provides education for boys and girls aged between 3 months and 18 years. Feeding about 1000 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of Breakfast, Lunch & supper with a fair amount of hospitality throughout the year. This is a term time contract for the main school & 52 week for the nursery and operates 7 days a week. Working patterns are mixed across 7 days. Additional benefit to this location is free parking onsite.

Role requirements (Task & Responsibilities):

Ensure our early years setting is kept to a high standard. Work closely with the general manager and head chef to make sure all menu requirements are met. Establish an excellent working relationship with our Early Learning Years client and their team. Take full responsibility of all dietary requirements and nutritional needs. Ensure all staff are working to the required standards. Re-allocate duties if required according to business requirements. Ensure cleaning and Health & Safety check lists are completed daily. Delegate jobs to staff and ensure they are carried out. After each shift, handover to a member of the management team Prepare all service areas for the days business relating to that meal service. Prepare, set-up, serve, clear, clean and store away any food, beverage or equipment required for special functions. If required, prepare basic food for sale/service, following good hygiene and safety practices and to the standard specified. Restock and replenish stocks and consumables as required during service periods, pre-empt customer needs and achieve optimum customer service delivery. Keep the kitchen informed of any food running out and pre-empt any delays in customer waiting. Operate cleaning, dishwashing equipment. Properly clean and store equipment, service, preparation and storage areas. Complete all / any necessary cleaning/hygiene duties. Serve customers, visitors, and guest in line with company and client service standards and expectations. Empty, remove and store rubbish / recycle rubbish in the correct place. On a rota basis work additional hours during and out of term time to assist with lettings, functions and school events. Check all special dietary requirements for pupils and staff on a daily basis. Liaise with the Executive/Duty Chef to ensure all functions, events and special diets are appropriately catered for. Attend daily menu briefing and communicate this information to the front of house team.

General Responsibilities

Ensure attendance to all staff meetings as required. Ensure that all policies and procedural requirements of both legislation and company are adhered to in order to promote a professional and flexible approach at all times. Ensure that the correct uniform is worn neatly and cleanly at all times. Ensure all necessary checks are carried out in the service and associated areas for food temperatures. Carry out all reasonable request of the management. Be conscientious with regard to Health & Safety and report any hazards to the manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION


Key personal skills and attributes

Previous experience of working within a catering environment and an early years setting Previous experience of serving customers within a catering establishment Team working abilities, Listening skills, the ability to work on own initiative, impeccable personal presentation, hygiene and behaviour to others, Food hygiene certificate preferred. The ability to be adaptable and be flexible as necessary. Reliable, Honest and able to demonstrate an open attentive approach to customer service. Willingness to learn new skills and take some responsibility. Ability to manage some moderately heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing.

Knowledge / competencies

Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English. Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills. Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred
