Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid 3 days in the office, 2 days work from home
We are looking for an experienced and competent CDM Principal Designer with a design background to join our fast growing CDM Principal Designer team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious person with drive, enthusiasm and a good knowledge of design and construction to join a global award winning multi-disciplinary design practice.
You will provide CDM PD support and advice to BDP multi-disciplinary design teams and Clients during the design and pre-construction stages of a wide range of projects to ensure their compliance with their statutory duties under CDM Regulations 2015.
Our Principal Designers lead the pre-construction phase, drive risk reduction, communication, cooperation, coordinate the transition from design through to the construction phase and health and safety file production, adding value to our projects and for our clients
You will be expected to deliver excellence, drive quality and value add, in every task, undertaking and deliverable within the role scope.
You will provide CDM support, competent advice and guidance to the team and our clients to ensure our statutory duties and those of our clients are executed effectively.
You will collaborate with other design disciplines, plan, manage and co-ordinate health and safety during the pre-construction stage. Share CDM knowledge across all professions, develop and deliver CDM training programmes, CDM workshops and CPD events for designers within the London studio and across other BDP UK studios.
About you
Ideally you will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate /Construction qualification and Design/ construction qualification and experience.
You must be a member of IOSH and APS.
You will be able to work concurrently on a portfolio of projects using excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate a collaborative team-working style and ability to meet tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience within a similar position, demonstrating strong construction background, design knowledge and familiarity with construction health and safety;
A thorough working knowledge and experience of the CDM 2015 Regulations; other health & safety regulations and a good knowledge of design and construction related activities and designers' duties gained from broad experience across a range of industry sectors.
The experience and expertise to compile and review significant hazard and risk registers, design risk management and PCI Info pack and able to work effectively with people at all levels and from all backgrounds.
Experience in reviewing the design risk management outputs from internal and external design teams to ensure they apply the principles of prevention and are compliant with the requirement of CDM 2015 Regualtions and other applicable.
Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills and an interpersonal style that enables you to excel in a direct client facing role.
The drive and ambition needed to develop the business, alongside loyalty and a willingness to actively contribute to the growth of the team
Ability to compile and write reports
Continually improve our approach, our processes, and our outcomes.
Relevant CDM project experience.
Proficient in MS Office.
