Applications are invited for a position of Centre Manager for the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistics and Machine Learning (StatML) in the Department of Mathematics, Imperial College London.
The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistics and Machine Learning (StatML) is a highly successful doctoral training centre led by Imperial with Oxford as an equal partner. It aims to train the next generation of leaders at the intersection of statistics and computer science, powering the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. Students undertake fundamental research to develop novel theory and methods and work with industrial and academic partners to apply their research to make real-world breakthroughs in pressing problems in government, medicine, industry and science. The centre has just taken its seventh cohort of students with a total of approximately 80 students at various stages of their training. What you would be doing

The Centre Manager has responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Centre, including managing the budget/accounts; organising student training programmes; providing support to students; administering student records and processes from recruitment to graduation; event management and facilitating interaction amongst and between students, academic staff and industry partners; website and social media management. As the Centre Manager you will be a key point of contact for the CDT and will contribute to promotional activities and raising the centre's profile. You will work in partnership with the Centre Manager based at the University of Oxford. As a member of a small team, you will be expected to undertake duties in an independent manner without the need for close supervision and be capable of taking the initiative.
What we are looking for

The essential requirements for this post are as follows:
Experience within Higher Education administration
Extensive experience of project management, leading, and delivering activities, including planning and progressing work activities, using initiative and sound judgement
An understanding of postgraduate training issues and management of postgraduate education
Experience of Event management, including organising conferences/workshops
Strong budgeting skills and financial management, including collecting and analysing complex data, financial monitoring and providing timely financial reports
Excellent interpersonal skills, including working within a small team-and developing effective relationships with a wide range of people (internal/external) and at all levels of seniority
Able to work independently and effectively manage own workload to plan and progress general work activities and conflicting demands
A friendly, warm and approachable style; able to deal confidently with postgraduate students
Desirable skills for this post are:
Experience of managing a CDT OR job-related experience acquired in a similarly demanding role
Knowledge of financial and operational systems in an academic environment
Knowledge of legislation, policies and current issues relevant to and affecting the Higher Education sector
Experience of website content design and maintenance using the appropriate software
