This role is based in Jaguar Land Rover\'s brand new hi-tech Global Digital Development Centre in the heart of Manchester, where you will be working alongside the best engineers in the world.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We are seeking an experienced and results driven SRE Line Manager with a passion for quality and exceptional soft skills to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be able to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with longer-term planning and possess the ability to deliver in a complex, highly demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Product Owners and key stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Promote the latest SRE practices, standards and processes and work with the Engineering Leads to deliver the strategic SRE vision.
  • Define and represent the SRE practice at knowledge and engagement events and take a leading role in developing the SRE community and good practice.
  • Develop and support our SRE capability by creating viable and rewarding career paths and recruiting talent to the organisation.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Essential:
  • In-depth knowledge and technical expertise in specialist technologies, complex systems and tools and processes
  • Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and manufacturing systems and tools.
  • Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience managing a medium to large team of engineers.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Site Reliability Engineering practices and principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative skills - being open to pair programming and working closely with engineers in cross functional teams.
Desirable
  • Extensive AWS experience (deploying production workloads), understanding of multi-account architectures.
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tooling
  • Extensive experience working with Linux
  • Experience writing scripts or coding in Python
  • Experience with programming fundamentals
  • Experience working with less-common protocols (e.g. MQTT)
  • Experience working with AWS security services (Security Hub/Config/GuardDuty/Inspector/WAF etc)
  • Encryption & hashing methods (TLS certificate management, mTLS, hash types)
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes including cluster management and security
  • Experience with modern CI/CD tools and techniques
  • Experience of advanced networking both cloud and on premise
  • Experience of Cyber Security principles
  • Experience managing/setting up an observability platform.
  • Experience running incident management processes
