Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced staff nurse to join Jade Ward as a charge nurse within the Hospital Division inpatient acute wards at Highgate West Mental Health Centre.



We are looking to recruit a compassionate, qualified, creative and motivated nurses to help deliver person-centred care to our patients.



All applicants must have at least one year post registration experience.



As a charge nurse of an acute ward, the post holder will be committed to working with trauma informed care models/approaches and recovery model, whilst working proactively in the least restrictive manner.

Main responsibilities



Manages the ward on a day-to-day basis at the direction of the Ward

Manager and deputises in the Ward Manager's absence



Co-operates with the Ward Manager to ensure that junior staff participate in professional development programmes and are supervised appropriately within their remit of competency.



Ensures the confidentiality of their work as outlined in the Trust's policy, the Data Protection Act and NMC guidelines on professional conduct.



Ensures that junior staff understands the Trust's policies regarding Health & Safety at Work.



Maintains an effective working knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983) and other related legal and statutory frameworks and subsequent

revisions.



Understands, carries out and educates others in the administrative requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983.



To participate in the duty nurse bleep holding rota.



When completing staff rotas adopt the most effective use of the Health Roster staff rota system as instructed by the Ward/Unit Manager.



To support the Ward Manager in ensuring that KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) relating to ward efficiencies are maintained and when required initiate actions to address any shortfalls.
