The Roles
Chargehand
As a
Chargehand
, you will take a leading role in coordinating production teams, ensuring that all works are completed
safely, efficiently, and to specification
. You'll liaise closely with supervisors, engineers, and contract managers, and play a key role in maintaining high standards of workmanship and site discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and motivate shop floor personnel to deliver work to schedule and quality standards
Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and site-specific requirements
Organise tools, materials, and equipment for daily tasks
Support installation, fabrication, and repair of chimneys and secondary steel structures
Communicate effectively with project managers and staff
Ideal Candidate:
Proven experience as a Chargehand or Team Leader in steelwork or industrial construction
Strong understanding of site safety and quality procedures
Ability to read engineering drawings and coordinate activities
Welding, rigging, or mechanical background advantageous
Inspector
As an
Inspector
, you will be responsible for ensuring all fabricated and installed components meet
quality and compliance standards
. You will inspect welds, materials, coatings, and structures in line with company and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections on fabricated and installed steelwork and chimney components
Produce detailed inspection and test reports
Ensure compliance with relevant standards (BS EN, ISO, etc.)
Work closely with production and site teams to resolve quality issues
Support continuous improvement of QA/QC processes
Ideal Candidate:
Experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role in steel fabrication or construction
Knowledge of welding processes, materials, and structural standards
CSWIP, PCN, or equivalent inspection qualifications preferred
Strong attention to detail and reporting accuracy
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
