The Charity Operations & Development Officer will play a key role in supporting the effective running and growth of the charity. This is a varied, hands-on role involving operational support, fundraising and development activity, event coordination, and project support. The postholder will work closely with the CEO to support reporting, administration, funding applications, and the development and delivery of UK-based projects.
This role is ideal for someone who is organised, proactive, and motivated by supporting charitable impact.
Responsibilities
CEO & Organisational Support
Provide administrative and operational support to the CEO, including preparation of reports, documents, and presentations
Assist with data collection, monitoring, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders
Support planning, coordination, and follow-up of meetings, including action tracking
Funding & Development
Research potential funding opportunities, including grants, trusts, foundations, and public funding
Support the preparation and submission of funding applications and supporting documentation
Assist with funder reporting, monitoring outcomes, and maintaining funding records
Contribute to the development of fundraising strategies and income-generation activity
Projects & Programme Support
Assist with the development and delivery of UK-based projects and programmes
Support project planning, including budgets, timelines, and delivery plans
Help monitor project progress and outcomes against agreed objectives
Liaise with partners, suppliers, and stakeholders as required
Events & Engagement
Support the planning, organisation, and delivery of charity events and activities
Assist with event logistics, promotion, and coordination
Support post-event evaluation and reporting
Operations & Compliance
Support day-to-day charity operations to ensure smooth and efficient delivery
Assist with maintaining records, policies, and procedures
Support basic financial administration, including tracking expenditure against budgets
Ensure work is carried out in line with charity policies, funder requirements, and relevant regulations
General
Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes
Carry out any other reasonable duties in line with the role and the needs of the charity
Skills
Essential
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Good written communication skills, including report and funding application support
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Confidence working independently and as part of a small team
Interest in the charity sector and supporting social impact
Desirable
Experience working or volunteering in a charity or non-profit organisation
Experience supporting funding applications or fundraising activity
Experience supporting projects or events
Basic understanding of budgets and financial tracking
