About The Role




The IoD is the only institute in the world to offer qualifications for directors under Royal Charter. The IoD Chartered director qualification was created over 25 years ago and is the gold standard qualification for Directors across the globe.



To be responsible for devising and implementing the IoD's strategy for fostering excellent alumni relations that will build and strengthen relationships between the IoD and its Chartered Director community. The successful candidate will be responsible for nurturing relationships between the IoD and our alumni of Chartered Directors to ensure we leverage the expertise of our alumni across the organisation. This role involves managing the CDir alumni database, supporting with the development of engagement events, advocacy, and profiling the Chartered Director qualification, and fostering a sense of community and connection.

Key Responsibilities



To be responsible, in consultation with the Director of Membership and the Networks and Engagement Lead and other relevant individuals, for developing and implementing the IoD's Chartered Director Alumni Relations strategy. To determine the IoD Alumni Relations strategic direction and to provide leadership, motivation and support so that the IoD's objectives are achieved. To develop strong connections with our CDir community and leverage their expertise and skills across the IoD's activities, including events, knowledge transfer, mentoring, advocacy, and endorsement. To ensure that there is effective communication with senior colleagues on matters relating to CDir alumni events, alumni group activities, IoD publications, web and email communication. To develop our offering for the CDir community and ensure that CDir members are maximizing their membership, and we see a marked improvement in member retention. Lead on our Chartered Director role modelling campaign to ensure we build strong advocacy for the qualification and awareness. Support the Chartered Director Dividend research in partnership with our Chief Economist to ensure we capture the positive impact of our qualification. Develop an annual communication plan for our CDir community and key external stakeholders to build a strong community and advocacy for our Chartered Director qualification. Working in partnership with the events team to ensure that activity attracts and involves as many our Chartered Director members as possible and ensuring CDirs have a visible presence across our other activities. Liaising with counterparts at peer institutions to ensure that the IoD's alumni relations programme follows best practice. Represent the IoD at key events to build profile and visibility of our CDir qualification and CDir alumni.

Person Specification



Essential



Qualifications





Educated to degree level or equivalent

Experience





5 + years' experience in dealing with senior clients, stakeholders or customers in alumni relations, membership organisation, fundraising, public relations or similar role. Experience of devising an alumni engagement plan and leading a cross functional team to implement it across the IoD. Experience of, and demonstrable success in, recruiting, managing and motivating volunteers Experience of advocacy and influencing key stakeholders Experience of fundraising and philanthropy is highly desirable

Outstanding written and oral communication skills Outstanding interpersonal skills: with the proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of people including the ability to motivate and manage senior-level volunteers Ability to work with and influence key stakeholders both internally and externally to achieve ambitious KPIs Strong project management skills Strong analytical, IT and administrative skills including experience in database manipulation An articulate and confident manner to develop good relationships with, and motivate the current chartered director community
