Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our nursery team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cooking and food production, demonstrating exceptional leadership and team management skills. As a Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food safety standards are met, and delivering high-quality dishes that reflect our nursery ethos.

This position is for 2 days a week - Thursday and Friday with the possibility to work a Wednesday, job sharing with our current chef. Working 9am to 2:30pm, this position is ideal for anyone looking to step back into a kitchen role with full support.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the menu. Cater to all allergies and parental preferences. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food preparation and service. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in compliance with health regulations. Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimising waste. Collaborate with the childcare team to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction. Train kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food safety practices, and operational procedures. Monitor kitchen operations to ensure quality control and consistency in food presentation.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a restaurant or educational setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is essential. Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage a small kitchen effectively. Passion for nutrition and delivering exceptional dining experiences. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong organisational skills with the capability to multitask effectively within the kitchen.
