St Philip's School is recruiting for a Chef to assist our catering services within our campus in Airdrie.
You will be required to assist the Head Cook with food preparation and service. All food is prepared 'from scratch' on site and served to young people aged between 10-19 years old. General cleaning tasks are involved, and food safety is paramount.
The ideal candidate must have relevant cooking experience and be willing to work in a busy and fast paced environment.
As part of a small, dynamic team, you'll play a key role in preparing and cooking fresh, high-quality meals for young people and staff daily. You'll be involved in creating enjoyable, nutritious meals that make a difference.
Working hours would be 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday with weekend working on a Saturday 9am to 5pm on a rotational basis of 1 in 4 weekends.
Summary of Role and Key Tasks & Responsibilities ( this list is not exhaustive or definitive):
As Chef you will be expected to:
Work with Head Cook to prepare fresh food for breakfast, break, lunch, dinner and events such as family's evenings, Board's meetings and formal events.
Preparing food to the highest possible standard;
Probing the food and record keeping of temperatures
Ensure kitchen and food service areas are clean, appropriately presented.
Maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge and understanding of the menu and allergens.. Training and guidance for this will come from your Catering and Domestic Manager
Ensure that COSHH, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to, records are kept and any incidents or accidents are reported in line with procedures.
Complete training as and when requested, in line with school policy and procedure.
Complete any other tasks as required in the development of the catering service.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Previous experience of cooking for high volumes, including baking
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
. A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to learn
Numeracy skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Effective organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work without close supervision.
Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
Qualified to SCQF Level 6 or working towards

Pay: 12.68 per hour
