We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary teamand work along side our head chef. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong desire to support our kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly, assisting with meal preparation, and maintaining high standards of food safety.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of ingredients for meals, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
Running solo service confidently
Support chefs and cooks in the cooking process by following instructions and recipes.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and utensils.
Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of food items.
Help with the setup and breakdown of catering events as required.
Assist in inventory management by keeping track of supplies and notifying supervisors when stock is low.
Participate in kitchen team meetings to discuss menu changes or improvements.
Requirements
Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is essential
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills.
Understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards. Level 2 Food and hygiene certificate essential
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends if required.
