About the Role
As the
Chef
, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering a variety of well-balanced, appetizing meals that meet residents' dietary needs and preferences. You'll ensure all food is prepared safely, using fresh ingredients and adhering to budget and hygiene standards.
You'll also lead and motivate the kitchen team, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and prepare daily menus that meet nutritional needs and personal preferences.
Cook and present meals to a high standard within budget constraints.
Manage food stock levels and place orders as needed.
Maintain accurate food order and inventory records.
Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served safely and hygienically.
Train, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff.
Oversee kitchen hygiene, including regular deep cleaning.
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations.
Build positive relationships with residents and families, responding to feedback with care and professionalism.
Participate in staff meetings and training as required.
Skills and Attributes
Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality environment.
Strong culinary and menu-planning skills.
Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Organised and able to manage time effectively under pressure.
Good understanding of food hygiene, health, and safety procedures.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Education and Qualifications
Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 2 (or willingness to work toward Intermediate level).
First Aid Certification.
NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation or Catering.
