Role Profile



We are looking to appoint a Process Chemical Engineer to lead all aspects of process engineering and be the subject matter expert (SME) for this field of engineering within Ozo Innovations.

Reporting into the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for in helping design and develop all elements of the process engineering required by Ozo Innovations.

This is an interesting and varied role which involves the design and development of new and innovative chemical process plant equipment via P&ID creation, risk assessments, managing a BOM and working within a multidisciplinary engineering team. The role will also involve some oversight of the CAD engineering function.

The successful applicant will be part of the Ozo Engineering team delivering all product development for Ozo's innovative process plant systems and equipment. You should be used to specifying the following type of equipment; piping, valves, instrumentation (flow meters, temperature sensors etc), pumps, dosing equipment and storage tanks.

This role will be primarily office-based at our Kidlington facility. While office-based, all roles are expected to include some travel and client support, this can account for up to 20% of overall working time. Employees are expected to be in the office and to manage their working-from-home days to ensure adequate office cover and support.

Essential Requirements



Degree / HND in Chemical Process engineering or a relevant engineering discipline OR a substantial amount of related work experience.

Key Responsbilities



Lead Chemical process engineering for Ozo Innovations product development of all process engineering related activities.

Working within a specialised engineering team developing and specifying new innovative products to unique customer requirements.

Own and create the P&ID required for a given system.

Create DFMEA/Risk assessments of existing and new platforms.

Create and Own the Master Bill of materials working alongside other team members.

Lead creation of Process Flow Diagrams and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.

Lead creation of Operation and Control Logic Flow Diagrams.

Lead with design calculations and process equipment specifications.

Be involved in practical aspects of building initial process systems in house working with the build team.

Instruct CAD engineering on the design working with the Head of Engineering.

Supporting test plan creation and writing of test reports.

Produce operational and regulatory documentation.

Assessing safety and environmental issues for associated plant.

Assessing compliance with relevant industrial standards.

Investigating and troubleshooting system problems related to process engineering.

Be the subject matter expert for Ozo Process Engineering

Skills and Knowledge



Ability to work on own initiative, good communicator.

Knowledge of chemicals and chemical processes.

Materials engineering experience.

Experience designing hydraulic / water-based systems.

This role needs good organisational skills.

Able to create, structure and own a BOM correctly.

Able to visualise and understand how our process equipment and systems will work.

Have a collaborative teamwork approach -Not afraid to get your message across.

Good standard of technical writing and presentation of results.

P&ID creation, interpretation and knowledge -Use of Draft sight software for P&ID creation.

Solidworks CAD experience is useful along with 3D visualisation.

Flow and pressure calculations, able to specify pumps, valves, piping etc.

Risk assessment creation knowledge.

Practical, hands-on mechanical skills would be an advantage to assist with prototype /development stages for piping, pumps etc

CE/UKCA marking work knowledge would help

Desirable



Machinery Directive knowledge 2006/42/EC

CAD solid modelling experience, ideally Solidworks

CAE / simulation experience

PVCu piping, valving assembly and design knowledge

Pressure, flow, specifying pumps

Practical skills would be advantageous

Structured problem-solving tools and root cause analysis experience, 8D, DFMEA

Knowledge of aqueous electrochemistry and electrolysis

German language speaker / knowledge (not critical, but useful)

Salary of 45,000 to 48,000 per annum depending on experience

Annual discretionary bonus scheme.

Contributory, salary sacrifice, pension scheme up to 5% of salary

25 days of holiday, increasing with length of service.
