An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chemist to join a well-established, prestigious Surface Treatment Specialists in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.
The ideal Candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and experience preferably in the electro plating industry with a track record of producing quality work to the highest standards.
General Responsibilities and Duties
Analyse plating solutions by performing routine chemical analysis including titration, pH and conductivity to ensure concentrations are kept within relevant specification ranges.
Record and track trends in solution performance and degradation to predict maintenance needs as well as monitoring tank levels and conditions.
Calibrate and utilise analytical laboratory equipment including pH meters, conductivity meters and pipettes on a regular basis to maintain accuracy.
Clean, refill and replace tank solutions according to the schedule or when contamination occurs.
Assist in troubleshooting process issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing long-term corrective actions.
Ensure chemical stock levels are maintained at a suitable level.
Accurately document test results in controlled records, ensuring traceability and compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
Handle and dispose of chemical waste in accordance with environmental and local authority regulations.
Maintain current COSHH assessments and ensure availability and understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Ensure proper labelling, storage and handling of chemicals in accordance with internal safety policies and statutory regulations.
Participate in AS 9100/ISO 9001, NADCAP, and customer audits, providing technical and process data as required.
Work closely with the production and quality teams to resolve issues, optimise chemical processes, and reduce environmental impact

Qualifications
BSc in a science related field
At least 1 years 'hands on' laboratory experience, preferably in a Chemist position.
Experience working in an ISO 9001 accredited laboratory environment.
Good communication on all levels
This is a permanent position with competitive rates of pay dependent upon experience with overtime available as and when demand dictates.
