Active Day Camps are a well-known Children's Activity Provider across North and South West London. ADC run multiple provisions such as Holiday Camps, Specialist/Wraparound After School Clubs, Football & Netball Clubs and Birthday Parties.
Active Day Camps aim to provide inclusive and specialist activities for children aged 3-12 years, offering a wide choice of sports, arts & crafts, drama, and enrichment activities within a structured framework.
Overview of the Role:
Active Day Camps are recruiting an enthusiastic and reliable Chess Specialist to lead engaging after-school chess clubs in Highgate & Islington. This role is pivotal in creating a fun, inclusive and structured learning environment for children, supporting their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of chess.
Monday:
Chess Club 3:30 - 4:50pm, followed by support in the general after-school club until 6:00pm.
40 flat rate for chess club.
Hourly rate paid for additional after-school club work (4:50-6:00pm).
Thursday:
Chess Club 3:15-4:30pm.
40 flat rate for chess club.
No further hours required
Optional:
Opportunities to work in other after-school clubs throughout the week, paid at the standard hourly rate.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging chess sessions suitable for all ability levels.
Foster a positive learning environment, encouraging strategy, concentration, and sportsmanship.
Ensure sessions are safe, inclusive, and adapted to meet different needs.
Build rapport with children, motivating them to develop their chess skills.
Assist in the wider after-school club programme on Mondays.
Report any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns to the Management Team.
Experience & Requirements:
Strong knowledge of chess rules, tactics, and strategies.
Previous experience teaching or working with children (desirable).
Positive, patient, and energetic approach.
Enhanced DBS check (ADC can process if required).
First Aid Certification desirable (training can be provided).
