Job Overview



The Chief Data Scientist (CDS) is responsible for leading the organization's data science initiatives, developing advanced analytics strategies, and driving innovation through AI and machine learning. The CDS plays a key role in leveraging data to create business value, enhance decision-making, and maintain a competitive edge. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and leadership skills

Data Science Strategy & Innovation:

Develop and implement the company's data science strategy to drive business growth. Identify and explore AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics opportunities. Act as a coach, inspiring curiosity and creativity in others Stay ahead of emerging trends in data science, AI, and big data technologies. Challenge the status quo and always look for ways to improve data science Leadership & Developing Science Capability: Be a leader in the data science space Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and analysts. Foster a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation. Confidently talk about the benefits of data science approaches to existing and potential customers Data Engineering: Identify the data engineering requirements for any data science product understand a broad range of architectures (including cloud) and data manipulation and transformation tools use these tools appropriately and help others use them Delivering Business Impact: Champion the role of data science within the organisation Identify and create opportunities to develop data science products to support organisational objectives, while collaborating across the organisation to fulfil meaningful goals Understanding of the role of user research, and can design and manage processes to gather and establish user needs communicate relevant and compelling stories effectively and present analysis and data visualisations clearly to get across complex messages work with colleagues to implement scalable data science products, and to understand maintenance requirements AI & Machine Learning Implementation: Oversee the development, deployment, and optimization of AI/ML models. Ensure scalability, reliability, and ethical use of AI solutions. Optimize data pipelines and model performance for real-world applications. Data-Driven Decision Making: Partner with business leaders to identify key challenges and opportunities. Use data science to provide actionable insights and drive strategic initiatives. Measure and communicate the impact of data science solutions on business outcomes. Ethics & Privacy: Ensure responsible AI and ethical data practices Identify and respond to ethical concerns Show an understanding of how ethical issues fit into a wider context and work with relevant stakeholders Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to adhere to data privacy regulations keeping up to date with standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Promote transparency and fairness in AI/ML applications. Understanding Product Delivery: Understand the differences between delivery methods, such as Agile and waterfall, and can choose the most appropriate method to deliver each product Define the minimum viable product (MVP) and support decisions about priorities Work with specialists in multidisciplinary teams to smoothly deliver data science products into the organisation Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, product managers, IT, and executives to align data initiatives with business goals. Communicate complex data science concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Support digital transformation efforts across the organization
