We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead the development of a significant automated handling system in a highly-regulated space. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth delivery of a ground-breaking programme which is absolutely critical to our client's business, contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Duties

Lead and manage the engineering and programme management functions, setting strategic goals and ensuring project delivery aligns with organisational objectives. Oversee concept generation, design, development, engineering sign-off and launch Form and lead cross-functional teams to effectively manage product risk on the programme Lead risk management and delivery assurance via consistent governance processes Act as the senior relationship manager with internal and external clients Make a leading contribution to the enhancement of engineering and programme management functions

Experience

Proven experience in a senior engineering role, preferably as a Chief Engineer or similar senior leadership position within industrial automation environments. Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and control systems for autonomous / robotised devices Excellent organisational skills with the ability to lead large diverse teams in delivery of complex products Proven delivery experience in highly-regulated environments Prior experience delivering autonomous systems such as warehouse pick and place, autonomous mobile robots or vehicle ADAS in a low-volume manufacturing setting is highly desirable.
