Space Imaging

Summary

A Chief Engineer is the main technical customer contact when developing solutions for their imaging requirements within technical, cost and timescale constraints. This requires an in-depth knowledge of what is possible using Teledyne e2v technology and a creative approach to problem solving and solution generation. Having agreed a potential approach the Chief Engineer will also provide technical support throughout the bid process.

This role will have an initial focus on Infrared detectors mainly based on MCT focal plane technology to be provided by TIS (in California) but would be expect to expand in the future to support visible CMOS imagers.

In addition to a detailed knowledge of the MCT detection material working with customers to develop IR Imaging solutions will require an understanding of packaging technology, including IDCAs, device testing and qualification.

The Chief Engineer will also be required to support existing projects especially when problems occur and with project communications with key customers

The accountability of the role includes:

Bids

  • Support business wining front end
  • Technical / capability road map sharing,
  • Develop and endorse technical solutions and delivery strategy
  • Responsible for the strategic oversight of the technical direction of a bid
  • Review Bids \xe2\x80\x93 technical buy in / validate datasheets
  • Support the definition of the product policy (IR detectors, CCD, CMOS, sub-system Building blocks)
  • Validates suitability of design and proper application of product policy in early project phases (typ. from phase A proposal to end of phase B or during Bids)
  • Actively seek grant funding opportunities to support development activities
Other
  • Agree with projects on the tailoring of engineering life cycle to be applied to that project
  • Mentoring project team and individuals
  • Promote IP development/patents
  • Act as technical experts / assistance for issues which arise on projects (tiger teams, NCR, NRB,\xe2\x80\xa6)
  • Act as independent reviewer (chair) for the SRR, PDR, CDR etc for projects as required
  • Contributes to gate/peer project reviews: Act as independent reviewer on projects as required e.g. first of class challenging designs etc.
  • Spreading technical knowledge and increasing technical confidence of the teams
  • Maintain an awareness of market technical requirements and developments
  • Being the technical representatives of e2v outside e2v (including within Teledyne)
  • Authorise technical publications
To succeed in this role you shall be able to demonstrate the following skills:

Fluency in English and French is a requirement while German, Italian, and other European languages is advantageous.
