York Against Cancer are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Chief Executive Officer to join our dedicated team.

Hours:
Full-time/permanent, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, with flexibility to work outside these hours and days where required.
Salary:
Circa 60,000 per annum (dependent on skills and experience).

The role:
The role involves leading the organisation's strategy, finances and daily operations, acting as the public face and ambassador for the Charity and being a representative for the Charity across York, North and East Yorkshire, as well as motivating staff and volunteers to achieve its mission.
Key duties include working with the Board of Trustees to set and implement strategy, overseeing fundraising and income generation, ensuring financial sustainability and compliance with regulations, and building and maintaining partnerships with community stakeholders. Your strategic vision and leadership skills will drive the Charity forward under the guidance of the Board of Trustees.

In detail:
Provide strategic vision and leadership to the operation of York Against Cancer under the direction set by the Board of Trustees.
Take overall responsibility for York Against Cancer's management and administration within the governance and accountability frameworks established by the Board of Trustees.
Work with the Chair to enable the Trustees to fulfil their legal duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of York Against Cancer.
Ensure that the Board receives information, advice and recommendations and information in an effective, thorough and timely manner.
Influence external change and earn and maintain the trust of all staff and stakeholders, especially funding bodies and key partner organisations.
Promote and develop awareness of the Charity to the wider audience bounded by the area covered by the York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to encourage new supporters and funders of the Charity.
Act as Company Secretary for the Charity and any of its trading or other subsidiaries.
Manage the executive, support and delivery teams at York Against Cancer and ensure it is a well-run organisation where colleagues feel valued and able to work effectively.
Ensure there are clear lines of accountability and responsibility across the teams which foster and maintain effective working relationships for the organisation.
Overall management of the working groups that report to the Board of Trustees.
Take appropriate steps to identify and manage risks that could impact significantly on York Against Cancer and any of its employees and volunteers.
Ensure that the organisation has the right management systems and structures in place to carry out its work effectively, accountably and safely, and that professional standards are met.
Act as an ambassador for York Against Cancer, networking widely to build new and existing strategic relationships.

Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with partners, funders, and the community.
Experience:
A background in business administration or non-profit management. Experience in the charity sector is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of York and the surrounding areas, with an established local network.
Fundraising
: Skills in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies across multiple income streams is desirable but not essential.
Travel requirements:
This role involves travel between York Against Cancer premises and to community events and meetings. A full driving licence and use of own car would be helpful, but we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate alternative means of fulfilling this requirement.
