Contract Permanent - Full time
Location: Palestra (Southwark) with 50% hybrid working
Max salary: 300,000

This creates an exciting opportunity for new Chief Finance Officer to take on roles with broad scope and significant influence over the future of the organisation and its impact on London and its residents.
The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) at Transport for London (TfL) is responsible for overseeing the organisation's budget to ensure sustainable funding for its short-, medium- and long-term goals, including the delivery of the Mayor's Transport Strategy. The CFO ensures financial stewardship across TfL's business plan and Investment Programme and leads the Procurement & Commercial, Technology Products, and Operations functions. The role also plays a key part in shaping TfL's Technology and Revenue Strategy.
As a member of TfL's Executive Committee and the Commissioner's leadership team, the CFO shares collective accountability for strategic decision-making and the overall management of TfL.
Key Accountabilities include:

  • Lead financial planning and analysis to inform TfL's strategic decisions.
  • Secure multi-year funding to support long-term financial sustainability.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of the TfL business plan in collaboration with the Chief Customer & Strategy Officer.
  • Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, rating agencies, and major businesses.
  • Provide strategic direction for Procurement & Commercial, ensuring robust governance and standards.
  • Co-develop the Technology Strategy, ensuring resilient tech solutions and cost-efficient operations.
  • Champion TfL's values, drive positive change and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
  • Represent TfL to stakeholders, media and the public as needed.
