A UK CFO role for a PE backed group, based in the West Midlands
About Our Client
An established, highly successful, private equity backed, international, B2B service provider in the West Midlands. They are market leaders in their sector and have enjoyed rapid growth. Already a great business, they are investing for the future under the guidance of a new investment firm. The company has a substantial market opportunity and ambitious growth plans and the prospects for progression are good. The UK is the biggest division of the group, and the UK CFO appointment is key to the Group CFO succession plan.
The Role
The role in based in the West Midlands. Reporting to the UK Managing Director (MD), you will be a key partner to the MD and play a critical role in the growth of the biggest division. The appointment is also key to the Group CFO succession plan.
You will set the strategic direction of UK finance activity within the overall strategy and priorities of the Group and define the annual and longer-term UK financial objectives and agree plans to achieve them. You will also oversee the delivery of planned results by monitoring performance against objectives and ensuring appropriate action is taken where necessary.
Decision support will be critical, and you will be responsible for delivering robust financial analysis and information to support the day-to-day operational performance and to deliver greater efficiencies in cost control, as well as helping to drive the commercial strategy. You will have oversight of client facing commercial models, contracts, bids, and tenders.
You will continue the development of a high performing finance function as well as oversee legal and take a lead role in managing stakeholder relationships across the UK Board, Group and externally and will present to Investors.
There will be the opportunity to affect real change and to contribute to the direction of the division.
Candidate Profile
For this UK CFO opportunity, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) from a B2B Service Provider, ideally with a public service focus and a complex multi-site environment. Proven experience operating as a Finance Director/ CFO is essential and ideally in a substantial division.
Alongside this, you will have a proven track record of developing and executing financial strategies supporting growth and leading teams to deliver operationally. Previous experience in PE is desirable but not essential.
The role requires a well-rounded finance leader, who is commercially and operationally focused as well as technically competent. Must have commercial experience, reviewing contracts, bids and tenders and a track record of driving operational performance and supporting with cost control. Must also have a good balance of strategic vision and a hands-on operating style.
A successful track record of managing and developing high performing finance teams will be important. The role also requires a strong relationship builder with personal credibility, and high impact communication and presentation skills. You must be able to work at all levels and influence wider business direction and decisions.
It is also important that you can demonstrate the strength of character to challenge, whilst being able to do so in a collegiate and considered manner and be comfortable leading change.
As stated, whilst the role is based in the West Midlands, our client has a hybrid working pattern, with the expectation that you will be in the office at least 3 days a week.
