Chief Operating Officer (COO) or Head of Operations
to join our exciting and rapidly expanding company.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO)
will be instrumental in advancing the operational effectiveness of the organisation. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the COO will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, enhancing efficiency, focusing on optimising operational performance, increasing revenue and profitability, and embedding best practices throughout the organisation and executing strategic initiatives in alignment with the company's objectives.
BEPI
is a London based, licensed and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) firm. It is a financial institution authorised to issue electronic money (e-money) and provide payment services. As an EMI company, it facilitates online digital payment transfers and processing, manages e-money, e-wallets, and prepaid cards.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic oversight and hands-on management of the organisation's day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless execution and operational excellence across all functions.
Design and implement forward-thinking operational strategies that directly support the company's growth objectives, optimise productivity, and elevate overall organisational performance.
Lead and inspire cross-functional teams by setting clear objectives, providing strategic direction, and fostering alignment with the company's mission and commercial goals.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), utilising data-driven analysis to proactively identify inefficiencies, address performance gaps, and implement robust corrective measures.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, operational agility, and proactive problem-solving at all levels of the organisation.
Work in close partnership with the CEO and Finance Director to shape and execute long-term business strategies, ensuring sustainable growth and market competitiveness.
Uphold compliance with all relevant industry regulations, standards, and internal policies, while maintaining the highest levels of operational integrity and service quality.
Oversee new client onboarding and the successful execution of service delivery, ensuring that operational teams consistently exceed client expectations.
Build, develop, and motivate high-performing operational teams by cultivating a strong leadership presence and promoting a positive, performance-driven culture.
Drive operational efficiencies by evaluating existing workflows, introducing innovative process improvements, and deploying scalable systems to increase speed, cost-effectiveness, and consistency.
Monitor financial and operational performance metrics such as profitability, cost control, and resource utilisation and make decisive, strategic recommendations to support commercial success.
Act as a trusted senior leader and influential collaborator, maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, suppliers, and strategic partners to reinforce operational effectiveness and brand reputation.
Requirements:
Extensive experience in electronic payment processing / EMI, fintech, digital online banking, knowledge of FCA rules on EMI entities, data and digital transformation strategies, performance management, and leadership within fast-paced growth phase organizations.
A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in similar jobs is required. Proven experience in a COO role, preferably within the EMI, fintech or banking sector.
Hands-on experience in Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), Fintech or payment services, and FCA regulated entities is mandatory.
Right to work in the UK is a must, and the candidate should be based in London.

Resilience: Cool-headed under pressure, capable of navigating ambiguity and delivering results in fast-paced, high-stakes environments without drama or distraction.
Industry Experience: A background in EMI or Fintech - particularly in FCA regulated payment processing, fintech and EMI organisations, alongside a demonstrated passion for driving growth, innovation, and excellence in execution.
